[ fennel ] – A FronteraFest Performance Piece

Location: Austin, Texas

Type: Theater

This is an original short performance piece at Austin’s legendary FronteraFest at Hyde Park Theatre. The performance will be rather abstract with no lines to memorize. It will be under 20 minutes long. No adult themes or nudity in this one. Experience in movement or dance is a plus, but not necessary.

Whomever accepts this role will also need to help with the production elements and be available for two directorial video chats [I, the director, am in Denver and will not be in Austin, which is a theme of the performance. Yes, I am directing this via video conference.] during the first two weeks of January [scheduled around your availability]. Performer MUST be available the night of January 14th for a tech rehearsal, and the night of January 18th for the performance. It’s POSSIBLE the festival will ask for the performance again on the night of Saturday, January 19th. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS as this is experimental theatre.

This is a purely movement-based role. There are no lines to memorize. Performer needs to have competence in some theatrical production, too, such as having worked backstage in any capacity as the performer will need to assist with set up and tear down of minor props and costumes during tech rehearsal and performance.

$100 total for two brief video rehearsals, the tech rehearsal [approx 40 minutes max] on January 14th at 9pm, and the known performance on Friday, January 18th. If additional performances are requested of the FronteraFest team, additional pay will be provided.

• Two rehearsals via video conference before Jan 14th [scheduled around performer requirements]
• Technical rehearsal at Hyde Park Theatre [Austin] on Monday, January 14th at 9pm
• Performance at Hyde Park Theatre [Austin] on the evening of Friday, January 18th
• Additional performance January 19th *possible*
