I will never say never, but I can tell you right now – I am perfectly happy with being who I am. I just – I really – I’m an entertainer, and the thing that I’d decided to work on was my career, and I decided the energy that I was putting in certain relationships – I was really kind of wasting my time, and I knew it.
I started by doing a little funny story, and then I started going to open mics. I realized I had a lot of work to do – you have to get over the stage fright and get your stage presence up. It took me some time, but I finally feel that I’m at a point where I feel comfortable on stage and giving my point of view.
When I work, a lot of times I have to lose weight, and I do that, but in my regular life I was not eating right, and I was not getting enough exercise. But by the nature of my diet and that lifestyle – boom! The end result was high blood sugars that reach the levels where it becomes Type 2 diabetes. I share that with a gajillion other people.
I work really hard at trying to see the big picture and not getting stuck in ego. I believe we’re all put on this planet for a purpose, and we all have a different purpose… When you connect with that love and that compassion, that’s when everything unfolds.
You just have to find that thing that’s special about you that distinguishes you from all the others, and through true talent, hard work, and passion, anything can happen.
Keep the faith; work hard: practice does make you perfect. Do what you can, and meet the right people to make it work.
It sounds simple telling people to work hard and never quit, but to really execute and demonstrate those principles takes discipline and faith. Those are the two factors that I believe separate the good from the great, the successes from the failures.
